John T. (Johnny) Collins

John T. (Johnny) Collins passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024.  He graduated from Benedictine Military School (BC) class of 1957 and received his BBA in Accounting from Georgia State College in 1969.   Johnny spent the majority of his working career in the Natural Gas Industry, retiring in 2004 from Atmos Energy Corp. after 33 years of service.  During his working years he was a member of many organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.  Johnny loved his family and never met a stranger. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Fleetwood Collins, and father, Walter A. (Buzz) Collins, and sister Judy Collins Daniels. 

He is survived by the love of his life, childhood sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Ann Marie Shea Collins, sons, Kevin (Nina), and Shawn, as well as twin grandchildren, Katie Shea and Patrick, brother-in-law, Jack Daniels, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at 7020 Concord Road, Savannah, GA on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m.  The burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances are requested for BC, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, GA 31406, or St. Vincent’s Academy, 207 E. Liberty Street, Savannah, GA 31401.

Sadness fills one’s heart ❤️ when someone leaves, but special memories of shared childhood days, bring joy. Johnny’s eyes sparkled with life and his wonderful smile would warm anyone’s heart. And of course his mischievousness ways gave a certain brightness to my childhood. Enjoy Heaven, Johnny, and I look forward to meeting you there one day…but hopefully in the distant future. Enjoyed sharing life with you.
